Vinyl stickers for cars come in so many different varieties that it can be difficult to know where to start winnowing down to the exact sticker that you want for your ride.
For starters, because most vehicles today have tinted windows and because vinyl is such a sturdy material, you’ll want to apply whichever stickers for cars you choose on the outside of your vehicle (window clings are a different beast).
Vinyl Stickers Go the Distance
You’ll be protected from the elements like otherwise-harmful UV rays and rain damage because the vinyl used is treated in a way to withstand years of the elements.
Like the USPS creed for mailmen says – neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night will keep these stickers from doing their job!
Certainly the most sturdy, though, would be a permanent adhesive vinyl sticker, so let’s start there.
Permanent Adhesive Vinyl
A permanent adhesive vinyl sticker should be used when you’re looking for the best hold possible and you plan on keeping your stickers for cars on for five or more years.
This kind of sticker is extremely durable but it can leave behind a a slight residue. A permanent adhesive is so-called because your digital vector graphic files are printed on a permanent adhesive vinyl, intended to give you serious staying power.
Permanent adhesive vinyl stickers for cars usually work best on rear windows, but they may be placed on front windows if they’re out of the way and discrete enough in size.
Window Cling
Using far less adhesive than permanent stickers for cars, window clings will sometimes be placed on the interior of the window in your vehicle because these feature low-tack adhesive rather than something heavy duty intended for crossing swords with the elements.
Clear Vinyl Sticker
Unlike permanent vinyl stickers for cars that should be used on the outside of your vehicle and window clings that typically should be applied to the inside of your windows, clear vinyl stickers can work inside or outside and play nice with a variety of different surfaces.
Clear vinyl stickers can be applied to the windows and/or any metal/painted part of the body of most vehicles. The adhesives used with clear vinyl are specifically formulated to leave your door panels undamaged, though a slight residue may be left behind.
The good news is that clear vinyl stickers are so resilient that they can withstand the elements for at least five years and can outlast the extra action from windshield wipers if applied to your windshield. Car washes also shouldn’t pose an issue.
Repositional Vinyl Stickers for Cars
A repositional vinyl sticker is the perfect solution if you’re looking for a more temporary sticker that will not leave behind any kind of adhesive residue.
The main benefit to repositional stickers for cars, though, is that they are true to their name and can easily be moved from window to window, or they can even be moved from a window to a side panel and vice versa.
Repositional vinyl stickers make great giveaway or promotional items since they last for at least six months and can be used on a variety of surfaces without leaving behind a residue.
Then again, time-sensitive kinds of messages would be ideal for vinyl repositional stickers – e.g., celebrating an honor role student’s achievement for a particular year in school or a sports team’s scintillating win a particular season.
Reflective Vinyl Stickers
Intended for outside window application, these will last you a very long time.
Reflective vinyl stickers owe their namesake to the fact that they will reflect light in a similar way that a stop sign reflects light from car headlights at night. It can be a very cool effect!
